I am not nor have ever been a big end time prophecy guy, but something struck my attention this morning and got me thinking a little about the signs of the times. I saw a facebook post regarding the changing zodiak chart. People were responding to the addition of a new zodiak sign between the constellations Scorpio and Sagittarius. In essence this changes many people’s “sign”. “Hey baby…What’s your sign?……I don’t know”………Well any how I pulled up an article written about it and read this interesting piece.
“According to astrologial principles, the Sun travels from the constellation Scorpius and goes directly into the sign of Sagittarius, but due to the constant motion of the cosmos, the Sun enters, for a few days of the year, the star constellation ‘Ophiuchus’ before entering Sagittarius from Scorpius, thus creating astrologically the birth of a thirteenth sign of the Zodiac, which is named as Ophiuchus the Serpent Holder.
The constellation of Ophiuchus is the only sign of the Zodiac which is linked to a real man. This man lived in ancient Egypt around the 27th century BC, and his name was Imhotep. The attributes of Imhotep can also be found in the Biblical Hebrew man Joseph, son of Jacob.. Imhotep is credited with many accomplishments including the knowledge and use of medicine. It is said of Imhotep that he brought the art of healing to mankind. The symbol of a serpent, which is still widely used today to represent the medical profession, was used to represent Imhotep.”
The reason I don’t like end time prophecy is because although it is rooted in scripture so often much of it is conjecture and creative application. With that said let me do a little conjecture and creative application.
Could it be that we are leaving the age of Aquarius with all it’s excess and loose living and going into an age of Ophiuchus. An age where Christ’s church is rising up and becoming the generation that seeks him. Psalm 24:6 “This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him. Who seek Your face.”
Could it be that His church is rising up with healing in her hands. Could it be that we are entering an age where the church embraces like Joseph of old that we hold the answer to the famines that plague our world. Physical famines that have resulted in hunger and starvation, could this be an age where the church rises up like never before with compassion and generosity. Spiritual and emotional famines leaving people empty and seeking…could it be that we are entering a season where the masses of people who call themselves followers of Christ will rise up with His message expressed fully in their words, actions, and priorities bringing hope to a starving world.
Like I said earlier end time prophecy at times is a bit of conjecture, but this sign of the time peaked my curiosity. I just want to ask you one simple question. Could it be?
I think knowing the signs of the times is super important as in the Bible we are told we have no excuse to be able to predict the weather and not read the signs of the times. It is important that we understand Israel and what is going on there in relation to Bible prophecy.
Astrology is forbidden by our Lord. I once was caught up in reading my horoscope as a teen before I know that the Bible says not to. Doing so has had long lasting effects on me. I do hope that people at Momentum know you are in no way condoning looking up your new sign or reading their horoscope. Some people, from our church, my not know what the Bible says, as many Momentum attendees are not from backgrounds that know the Word. It is the Word of God that will enable us all to stand in these days when the truth is being called a lie and lies are being called truth.
I am not too sure what end time prophecy has to do with the changing of the zodiac chart, but I must admit that personally, as someone who believes in Jesus Christ, crucified, risen and sitting at the right hand of the Father I find it of no consequence what so ever, especially as I don’t believe as Christian we should be looking towards astrology and astrological signs for our lives. Astronomy on the other hand sure does help me appreciate the greatness of God’s creation and the heavens that declare God’s glory, as the psalmist so rightly says. The sign itself is not new (so as Solomon so rightly says – there is nothing new under the sun.)I find it ironical that we look at this sign and compare it to Joseph who definitely was a type of Christ but as Christ came and fulfilled all of the law and the prophets why do we need to look to the shadow when we can look to the Christ who was and is and is to come. Who is Christ within us the hope of glory! As far as looking to Israel as noted in the above comment the writer to the Hebrews says – But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are writtenf in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
The Holy Bible : King James Version. So I see no need that we look to Israel let us rather look to and align ourselves with Christ who is the head of the church, who has given gifts unto men and the person of the HOly Spirit who was given to us to lead and guide us into all truth.
That is true. I am part of a bible study at church that talks about heaven and the end times.
I think Israel is significant when looking at end time prophecy in the Bible. In my study of Daniel and Revelations as well as through out the entire New Testament, I see the significance of Israel. I can not state this any better than Rick Joiner in the following quote. “The Apostle Paul also asserted this in his most important Epistle on New Covenant theology, the Book of Romans, as we read in chapters nine through eleven. As we are warned in this text, it is a big mistake to “become arrogant toward the natural branches” (see Romans 11:18).” Of course the Holy Spirit and the word of God, the Bible is what we look to first and foremost when looking for truth as Christ Followers.
Ross, I get what your saying. I love how God can use anything to reveal His inspiration. Obviously your observations are not prophecy nor a condoning of the mystical art of astrology, just personal commentary on your thoughts sparked by an article. Sadly, (and this is not speaking to above comments), many people in the Church automatically shut off Godly inspiration if it’s not in Christianeze, on a “Christian” Label, or straight from scripture. As far as your thoughts being a challenge to where the Church “could”/should be, I couldn’t agree more!
Love ya bro!
